Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, Oh My!

One of the many things on my “to-do list” for the summer was to take Griffin to the zoo. So last Saturday after Griffin’s class at the Jump Spot, we piled ourselves and a few of our favorite travel items into the Highlander and headed south to St. Louis. The three-hour trip consisted of a stop at McDonald’s for lunch, a Veggie Tales video set on repeat, and last, but certainly not least, rain, rain and more RAIN! I was thinking that our plans to the zoo were going to be ruined by the weather, but I was pleasantly surprised that it turned out be a beautiful day.

During a break between two storms hitting the St. Louis area, we were able to spend a good 2 ½ hours at the zoo, and Griffin loved it! Some of his favorite stops were the penguins, kangaroos and sea lions. However, all of the animals that we saw didn’t compare to the ride on the “choo-choo.” We ended our visit that day with a train ride around the zoo. The whole time Griffin was smiling from ear to ear, and hanging on for dear life!

But, we certainly couldn’t leave town without stopping by Busch Stadium, right? On Sunday the Cardinal’s hosted their annual Ballpark Founder’s Appreciation Day, which included tours of the clubhouse and dugout, autographs from previous players, access to walk around the warning track and all of the stadium concessions you could eat. Aaron was in heaven . . . and Griffin and I had fun too ;)

A special thanks to Uncle Adam and Aunt Christy for hosting us for the weekend. We can’t wait to come back and visit soon!
